Use:
Appears to detect bugs when placed within a few inches of them.
Seemingly useless, since the phone is 'tapped' by simply listening in at the operator's junction. One must assume that there is an external microphone on the base of the phone.
How Used:
007 searches his hotel room for bugs and finds one in the base of his telephone. After finding one, he transfers to a different room, one which is under much more thorough "surveillance."
